Indie rock used to sound very tight and bright - think Vampire Weekend. One of the standout tracks from Mac DeMarco’s new album Salad Days is the dream-like synth-pop number Chamber Of Reflection. I am not saying it wasn’t done before or that its somehow some uncovered relic to wow the modern world, but this song was “new” to a lot of kids and young adults who had grown up only listening to highly produced pop.
Organs, Rough Basic Drums, and of course that burning synth lead. Listen to both songs on WhoSampled, the ultimate database of sampled music.
